UK: Tuesday 3rd September – Today the 21st Raindance Film Festival announces that feature film PREVERTERE (US), written and directed by Brian McGuire, will have its European premiere on 27th September as part of the 2013 festival program. McGuire also directed and stars in CARLOS SPILLS THE BEANS (US) alongside Joey Capone, Bret Roberts and Harry Dean Stanton, which will also celebrate its European Premiere on 29th September.
PREVERTERE recently won Best Narrative Feature at The Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles 2013 and was described by Smells Like Screen Spirit Don Simpson as “This incredibly sexy film plays with the sloppy and haphazard honesty of an early Jim Jarmusch film.”
Starring Terry Wayne, Antonella Ponziani, Pollyanna McIntosh, Rose Rossi and James Duval, PREVERTERE is the fourth film written and directed by Brian McGuire, and one of two of his films celebrating European Premieres at this year’s Raindance Film Festival following his 2010 festival debut ON HOLIDAY. Brian McGuire previously starred In Search Of A Midnight Kiss, Blind Man and Everything Will Happen Before You Die and will also star in 9 FULL MOONS which will also premiere at the festival.
Templeton, played with a gentle realism by Terry Wayne (Carlos Spills the Beans, The Violent Kind, On Holiday) is the PREVERTERE. The film follows him navigating his way through three very twisted, passionate and powerful performances by three outstanding women.
Antonella Ponziani, best known for her role in Federico Fellini’s INTERVISTA and winning an Italian Oscar at the age of 28, brings an intense presence to the role of Shelly. A woman so desperate for love she will believe anything.
Along the way Templeton finds himself at the door of Irene, played with hope and beauty by Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman, Exam, Land of the Lost, Him Indoors). Her performance displays a woman who is perfectly caught in the middle of the road. Happily stuck in her love game cycles.
But the one Templeton can’t get away from is perhaps the love of his life, Jo-anne played with love by Rose Rossi (10th & Wolf, Behind Blue Eyes, A Modern Twain Story: The Prince and the Pauper). Daughter to Leo Rossi, she brings the perfect mixture of cute and sexy that every man dreams about in a woman.
Templeton has a lot on his mind and a lot of decisions to make. Sometimes you have to show your dirty side before you can fall in love.
A striking emotional comedy, PREVERTERE offers a relatable look into booty calls and love, with laughs made to feel.
Brian McGuire says of the film, “This is our attempt to tell a story that is relatable in an emotional and humorous way. This is the story of a pervert’s quest for love. Our hero Templeton is a lost, scared, sexual and emotional time bomb in need of defusing. He encounters three women who may not be any better off than he is. We have all been here before in some shape or form. Man or woman, PREVERTERE is your story.”
